Marijuana Conversation

Marijuana - The conversation starts here.

Strike up a Marijuana Conversation.
Try the following icebreakers. Since discussing marijuana law can be a sensitive topic, remember the key to a good conversation is to listen, be polite, and learn from others’ perspectives.

“Did you know that in 2007, 873,000 people were arrested for marijuana offenses in the U.S., and 90% of them were just for possession?”

“Did you know that the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence were written on hemp paper and that hemp used to be a major agricultural crop in the United States?”

“If alcohol prohibition failed, why does anyone think marijuana prohibition will succeed?”

“Did you know that decriminalizing adult possession of small amounts of marijuana would save Washington state, county and local budgets over $16 million annually in prosecution, defense, jail, and court costs?”

“Did you know that even a misdemeanor marijuana conviction carries mandatory jail time in Washington, and can cost you your job, apartment, and federal financial aid for college?”
